Beard Care Routine: Wash, Oil, Butter

Most beard problems, like itch, flaking, and hair that won't sit right, start at the skin underneath. Wash it wrong and the skin underneath gets dry and itchy. Skip the oil and the hair turns coarse. This routine takes care of both, in three steps.

B01 · Wash

Start with the Foaming Beard Wash, daily or every other day. Regular soap or shampoo strips the natural oils your beard needs, which is where most itching and flaking come from. Lather one or two pumps in wet hands, work it through the beard all the way down to the skin, and rinse until it runs clear.

B02 · Oil

Towel off lightly, leaving the beard a little damp. A few drops of Conditioning Beard Oil go on next, worked through the hair and into the skin underneath. The oil softens the hair and keeps the skin from drying out, and it spreads more evenly while the beard still has some water in it.

B03 · Butter

Finish with the Shaping Beard Butter. Warm a small amount between your palms, work it in down to the roots, and shape your beard as you go. The butter is thicker than the oil, so it sits on top and holds everything in, which keeps the beard soft through the day and in the shape you left it.

The order matters because each step sets up the next one. Oil on a dirty beard just traps the dirt. Butter before oil blocks the oil from reaching the skin.

For shorter beards, the wash and the oil are enough. Add the butter when it's long enough to need shaping.
